Little Bush Camp Suite
The Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve in the Sabi Sands has the distinction of having been acknowledged in Conde Nast’s Top 10 Hotels in the world on multiple occasions. It is where we organise our Ultimate Big 5 group safaris every year and we highly recommend it as a destination from which you will not only emerge with great photos, but also with a renewed appreciation of nature in general.
The rangers and staff at the Sabi Sabi lodges are experts in what they do and will ensure that your stay is absolutely perfect. Your biggest decision is going to be which of the four lodges to chose to stay at. All of them are 5 Star, but have varying levels of intimacy and decor.
The company byline is “Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow” which is borne out in the theme of each lodge. “Yesterday” refers to the railway period setting of the Selati Lodge, which has 8 suites. “Today” refers to Little Bush Camp and Bush Lodge, which have modern day styling, and “Tomorrow” refers to the futuristic, yet earthly design of Earth Lodge.
Londolozi outdoor bath
Also situated in the Sabi Sands along the banks of the Sand River, Londolozi is best known for its focus on the big cats of the bush, namely leopards and lions.
One of the main advantages of choosing Londolozi as your base from which to safari is that the lodges are all spread out along river frontage, which means that you are often treated to wildlife sightings from the comfort of your room.
There are 5 lodges in the Londolozi reserve, each offering varying degrees of comfort and price.
Pioneer Camp is the most secluded of Londolozi’s Luxury camps. The three private suites have superb river views and are perfect for honeymoons and private getaways. Focused on multi-generational family travel, this adaptable camp can also be converted into a private bush home for family groups of 6 – 14 people through linking glass sky walkways into interconnected family units.
Enchanting, intimate and child-friendly, Founders Camp is ideally situated to provide an insider’s view of the secrets of river life. 10 idyllic chalets, repose in the shade of ancient ebony and matumi trees along the banks of the Sand River.
Varty Camp is the home of an African safari holiday. All rooms have private swimming pools framed by timber decks that overlook the riverine bush. The living spaces are raised off the ground and shaded under a cathedral of trees. The camp has a pleasingly down-to-earth quality and the emphasis on family heritage means that children over 6 always have a place at Varty Camp.
Private Granite Suites
Tree Camp embodies the very essence of Londolozi’s continuous striving to transcend and redefine the journey to the wilderness. Guests spend lazy afternoons on their decks, champagne in hand as they survey the ancient landscape, elephants feeding below in the river. In every detail and feature this exclusive camp provides a matchless showcase of African excellence. Tree Camp does not accommodate children under the age of 16, unless guests book the camp exclusively.
The Private Granite Suites offer an extraordinary experience for the exclusive use of six guests. The emphasis is on space, light and privacy while blurring the barrier between inside and out. A seamless integration with nature is achieved with large doors and windows all opening directly onto the Sand River. This luxury safari lodge is for the discerning traveller who appreciates the finer details of an African safari. Each suite has a private, heated swimming pool. The Private Granite Suites can be booked individually or as a private camp for six guests, making it ideal for honeymooning couples or small groups celebrating special occasions. The Private Granite Suites does not accommodate children under the age of 16, unless guests book the camp exclusively.
Mateya Safari Lodge
Mateya Safari Lodge
The Mateya Safari Lodge is situated in the Madikwe Private Game Reserve in the North West Province of South Africa. Unlike the Sabi Sands, Madikwe Game Reserve is entirely malaria free so there is no need for you to take precautions when visiting this region.
Mateya Safari Lodge accommodations consist of five individually designed luxury air-conditioned thatched suites. Each suite blends with its natural surroundings and offers uninterrupted views of the waterhole and plains. Guests can enjoy a balance of sophistication and comfort, in total privacy and harmony with nature, savouring the rare pleasure of their very own secluded slice of Africa.
One of the main attractions at Mateya, apart from being able to see the Big 5, is that there are regular sightings of the highly endangered African Painted Wild Dog. We highly recommend visiting this lodge if you’d like a better chance of photographing these remarkable dogs.
